During the course of the weekend Summit, hemispheric leaders agreed that ensuring energy security, promoting alternative energy resources and acting in unison to confront the effects of global climate change are among the greatest challenges facing our community of nations. One of the proposals to emerge from the discussions in Trinidad & Tobago focused on ways to increase cooperation and collaboration in the hemisphere; a framework for an “Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas.”This event in Lima, Peru will be the first follow-on step to bring policy makers - and the private sector - together to discuss possible areas of cooperation and collaboration on the most critical energy issues facing our hemisphere and next steps. Specifically, the pillars for discussion and enhanced cooperation, and the key themes for this meeting, are: Energy Efficiency; Renewable Energy; Fossil Fuels; Energy Infrastructure; and, Energy Poverty. The objective of the Symposium is to begin to identify concrete next steps for energy and climate cooperation in the Western Hemisphere. SPONSORS
