The Institute of the Americas, in partnership with the Council of the Americas, will hold a Border Conference on the U.S.-Mexico Competitiveness Agenda on February 13-14, 2013.
This event continues an initiative launched by the Council in Laredo, Texas, in August 2012 with the objective of fostering a public-private dialogue on improving management of the U.S.-Mexico border and deepening economic integration. This encounter will bring together key actors from the private, public and non-profit sectors in both Mexico and the United States.
The February 14th session will be open to the public and will include a series of panel discussions on the Mexican reform agenda and key cross-border business sectors. Ambassador John Negroponte, Chairman of the Council, and Ambassador Charles Shapiro, President of the Institute, will preside.
Ambassador Negroponte has served as U.S. Ambassador to Honduras, the Philippines, Mexico, Iraq and the United Nations.
