Last December, Mexico passed legislation focused on sustainable electric production and, more broadly, the country’s energy transition. The Energy Transition Law — what many have called the final piece of the country’s historic energy overhaul — seeks to regulate the sustainable use of energy and set clear procedures for the country’s clean energy and emissions reductions goals and targets.
Through the Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency goals, Mexico aims to promote clean electric generation and compliance with standards established in the General Climate Change Law and Electric Industry Law. One of the new and innovative elements of the Energy Transition Law, is the creation of Clean Energy Certificates. The Certificates will be used as an incentive and compliance mechanism to boost generation from clean energy sources.
Join us for a webinar discussion on “Mexico’s Clean Energy Experience” with Francisco Xavier Salazar, the Institute of the Americas Regional Energy Integration Non-Resident Fellow. The webinar will be held Friday, March 18 at 10:00am San Diego (11am Mexico City; GMT/UTC – 8 hours).
Salazar’s formal presentation will be followed by a live Q&A session with the audience.
