Pablo Ruiz holds a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master Degree in modelling and regulation of energy markets.

As academic researcher, as utility consultant or as policy advisor, he has always been working in knowledge-based decarbonization solutions for the energy system. Along his career he has been involved in key decarbonization processes such as the UNFCCC, the launching of the International Renewable ENergy Agency or the development of national renewable and energy efficiency plans. The last years he has been acting as scientific project officer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Petten, NL. During this period, he has been involved in the development and the public release of key strategic modelling tools such as the JRC-EU-TIMES energy system model or the ENSPRESO renewable potentials data base. He has also contributed in assessing the employment impact of developing renewable technologies in the “Clean energy technologies in coal regions” report.
